Body Electric is a poetic animation
of literary works that celebrate physicality and sensuality. Kinetic type
and photographic imagery come together to convey the energy and rhythm of
three classic texts: verse 9 of Whitman's "I Sing the Body Electric," the
"Song of Solomon" from the King James Bible, and the passage "On Kissing"
from the Kama Sutra.
The resulting animations, though determined by a generative algorithm,
provide a window into a deeply human part of our culture.
The three videos that make up Body Electric were created for a solo
exhibition at the Harvard Square Lumen Eclipse public video display.
